Improvements to search on our documentation

We’ve upgraded the search across our documentation to use TypeSense – the same lightning-fast search engine now powering in-app search for servers, databases, and the RunCloud web app.

This means:

  • Faster, more accurate results when searching for guides or troubleshooting steps
  • Smarter keyword handling so you can find what you need even if you don’t type the exact phrase
  • A consistent experience across the app and documentation – no need to adjust to different search behaviors

This change makes it even easier to find relevant support articles, feature documentation, and technical how-tos, whether you’re inside the app or browsing our help docs directly.

Let us know if there’s anything we can do to make search even better!

HTTP/3 Support, PHP 8.3/8.4, WP Canvas API

HTTP/3 Now Supported on RunCloud

We’re excited to announce a major enhancement to your web hosting stack on RunCloud: HTTP/3 support is now officially here.

HTTP/3 delivers:

  • ⚡Faster page loads
  • 🔐Improved connection security
  • 📱Better performance on mobile networks

You can now enable HTTP/3 when creating a web application on RunCloud and in your SSL/TLS settings, as shown below:

To enable HTTP/3 on existing containerized core servers, please refer to this guide:
Enable HTTP3 for containerized servers

PHP Updates

PHP 8.3.22 and 8.4.8 are now available for NGINX stacks.

  • PHP 8.3.22
  • PHP 8.4.8

Note: If your server runs on OpenLiteSpeed, PHP version updates are not managed directly by RunCloud. However, once updates become available for OpenLiteSpeed, they will automatically reflect on your server(s).

🔌 New API Endpoint: WP Canvas

We’ve added a new WP Canvas endpoint in the RunCloud API. It enables you to programmatically create and modify WP Canvases via the RunCloud API.

This addition opens up greater flexibility and automation for WordPress-focused workflows.

For more information, please refer to our API documentation.

8G Firewall Protection Now Available

We’re excited to announce a powerful upgrade to your hosting infrastructure on RunCloud – the 8G Firewall is now fully integrated and ready to help secure your web applications.

🛡️ 8G Firewall Protection

The 8G Firewall provides an added layer of protection at the NGINX level, designed to stop common and dangerous threats before they reach your application. This includes:

  • Bad bots and crawlers
  • SQL injection attempts
  • Cross-site scripting (XSS)
  • Other common web exploits

Note: The 8G Firewall feature is only supported on Ubuntu 20.04 and above.

How to enable it:

To activate the 8G Firewall on your web application:

  1. Head to your Web Application > NGINX Configs
  2. Click Create NGINX Config or edit an existing one
  3. From the Predefined Config dropdown, select: WordPress – 8G Firewall
  4. Click Save Config

Containerized Servers

We've identified a bug in the MariaDB/MySQL Docker image that could potentially cause downtime when running future updates.

Our team has already developed a fix for this issue, but since we keep auto-updates disabled for databases (as they are not stateless and contain your data), this update requires manual intervention.

As a precautionary measure, please refer to this guide (est. 5-10 minutes)
