OpenLiteSpeed Startup Issue: Critical Fix Released

Update 26/03/25: OpenLiteSpeed's team has now confirmed that there is a known bug (an if statement causing crashes) that has been fixed in the latest debug build. As such, they have also updated the OpenLiteSpeed v1.8.3 package with the patch, which should resolve the issue.

Issue Description

We identified a critical bug in OpenLiteSpeed (OLS) version 1.8.3+1 on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS servers that prevented the OLS service from starting properly.

Resolution

Our engineering team has released a fix in OLS version 1.8.3+2.

How to Update Manually

To immediately apply the update on your Ubuntu server:

  1. Run the following command to update to the latest OLS version:
apt-get update && unattended-upgrade -d
  1. Verify that OLS is running properly:
systemctl status lsws-rc

Automatic Updates

Note: This fix will be automatically applied to all affected servers running OLS within the next 72 hours. If your server doesn't receive the update within this timeframe, please contact our support team at support@runcloud.io or through your RunCloud dashboard.
